What the peer-reviewed literature actually shows for peptides currently in circulation, and where each stands with FDA. Every source cited across these pages is peer-reviewed, published within the last fifteen years, and checked against the index for identity before publication.

On FDA’s category 2 designation and the withdrawn nominations
FDA’s interim policy sorts bulk substances nominated for compounding into three categories. Category 2 means the substance was nominated with enough information for FDA to evaluate it, and that the agency identified significant safety risks. Category 3 means FDA could not evaluate the substance at all, so absence from category 2 is not clearance.
In April 2026 the nominators of most of the peptides on this page withdrew their nominations, and FDA moved those entries to a second table headed “nominated but withdrawn” while keeping the safety rationale it had written for each. A withdrawn nomination leaves the substance on no 503A list for any route. Of the substances relevant to this catalog, 2 sit in category 2 today and 15 sit in the withdrawn table, and each page below states which. The advisory committee votes of July 2026 are advice to the agency; only rulemaking places a substance on the 503A bulks list.
