Exosome supply for Westport practices
A Westport practice may apply for an account for biomolecular signaling vesicles (exosomes) for topical aesthetic use, and should be prepared to provide the documentation needed to purchase exosomes and other biologics that may be subject to Conn. Gen. Stat. 21a-70 and to federal regulation under 21 CFR Part 1271. Exosomes leave Florida frozen and come to the town by carrier. Westport prescribers may also send an individual prescription to our 503A pharmacy partner, which compounds and dispenses it and ships it from Texas to the practice or the patient.

When an order reaches a Westport practice
Frozen exosome material comes up from Florida by carrier to a Westport office within the transit window shown in the panel above. Compounded preparations leave the pharmacy partner in Texas on their own schedule. The route depends on the formulation, so check with us before a Westport patient is told where to expect one.
Winter storms set the main holds here. On 22 February 2026 Westport was under a Local Civil Preparedness Emergency, the Town activated its Emergency Operations Center and Town Hall closed the next day. Governor Lamont's emergency order barred commercial vehicles from every limited access highway in Connecticut from 5 p.m. that Sunday until further notice.
The same storm brought a Coastal Flood Warning, with surge forecast at about 4.0 to 4.6 feet above normal tides. The Town expected roadway flooding in parts of Saugatuck Shores, Compo Beach and other shoreline neighborhoods at high tide. A box already on a truck during such a ban stays with the carrier. A placed order leaves Florida as usual, so a shoreline practice orders for arrival once its roads are clear.
Cold-chain receiving at a Westport address
Cold works against the shipper here as much as heat. Sikorsky averages about 24 January nights at or below freezing, and a shipper left on an unheated porch or in a parked car still loses dry ice. In a closed space it also adds carbon dioxide.
A Westport suite on a shoreline street may lose road access at high tide in a coastal storm. The account should list a signer who can still reach the office and, for each address, the door the driver uses and the hours someone is in. The signer notes the arrival time and lot number and confirms dry ice remains. In Westport the freezer setting is the same as everywhere else: -20°C for long-term storage and 4°C once a vial is thawed, per the manufacturer's handling instructions. A shipper with no dry ice left is replaced, and other delays may be refunded depending on whether the exosome material stayed temperature-controlled.
Rules that apply to a Westport order
- The Westport Building Department, on the second floor of Fire Department Headquarters at 515 Post Road East, reviews commercial plans against the Connecticut State Building Code. It collects final signoffs from other Town agencies, performs the final inspection and issues the Certificate of Occupancy. A refitted Westport suite should not be listed as a delivery address until that certificate is in hand.
- Zoning permits come from the Planning and Zoning Department at Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue, which publishes a guide to receiving an expedited zoning permit.
- During a Local Civil Preparedness Emergency the Town's Emergency Operations Center coordinates road clearing, and Town Hall may close, as it did on 23 February 2026. Statewide commercial vehicle bans issued by the Governor apply on top of the Town's own declaration.
Neighbors of Westport on the same carrier lane
The rest of Fairfield County, including Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and New Canaan, has its own page. Each of those towns keeps its own building office, so a Westport Certificate of Occupancy does not carry over. Westchester County, over the New York line past Greenwich, follows New York rules and its own County emergency notification system. Westport Nixle messages reach only subscribers who opted in, so a practice with offices in several towns signs up with each.
Westport questions
- Our Westport office is on Saugatuck Shores. What happens if a coastal flood warning floods our road on delivery day?
- The carrier keeps the box until your road is passable. In the February 2026 storm the Town warned of roadway flooding in parts of Saugatuck Shores and Compo Beach at high tide, with surge near 4.0 to 4.6 feet. If the shipper reaches you with no dry ice left we replace it, and other delays may be refunded depending on whether the exosome material stayed temperature-controlled.
- Governor Lamont banned commercial vehicles from Connecticut highways during a storm. Does that stop a delivery to Westport?
- Yes, for as long as the Governor's order is in force. The 22 February 2026 order took effect at 5 p.m. on all limited access highways statewide until further notice, so commercial carriers were covered by the order. The carrier's tracking number shows where the shipment is held, and a practice that sees a storm coming should place its order to arrive after the ban lifts.
- Which Westport alerts should our practice manager sign up for to plan around storm deliveries?
- Two are worth having. Westport Police send Nixle messages by text, phone or email, and texting 06880 to 888777 subscribes a phone. CT Alert, run by the state, can target a whole town or part of one. Together they show when the Town has declared an emergency and when roads near your office are closed.
