When an order reaches a Calabasas practice

A Calabasas shipment crosses the country on the national carrier lane, and the delays that matter most happen at the delivery end. The two local causes to watch are an Edison power shutoff and a wildfire evacuation warning for the practice's zone.

Southern California Edison serves Calabasas and de-energized circuits here during its January 2025 Public Safety Power Shutoff. Its first notice to ordinary customers usually comes a day or two ahead, and a final notice follows a few hours before the power goes off. In that January event, some customers received no early notice at all.

Orders are not held once placed. A practice that receives a shutoff notice or an evacuation warning for its zone should wait to order until power returns or the warning is lifted. The National Weather Service describes October through March as the season of strong offshore Santa Ana winds over the Santa Monica Mountains, when most of those notices fall.
