Exosome supply for Vail practices
Vail practices approved for a wholesale account receive biomolecular signaling vesicles (exosomes) frozen from Florida, carried up the I-70 corridor on the Colorado carrier lane. Our 503A pharmacy partner is licensed in Colorado, so a Vail prescriber can also route single prescriptions to it for compounding and shipment from Texas.

When an order reaches a Vail practice
A Vail delivery crosses the mountain corridor on I-70, and Vail Pass is where winter timing is decided. CDOT calls a safety closure proactive, set to reduce the chance of incidents, and it has used them on Vail Pass in heavy snow seasons. Once the pass is shut for one, CDOT closes Exit 173 West Vail, Exit 176 Main Vail and Exit 180 East Vail.
Commercial vehicles are then staged on I-70 and at the chain station near mile point 179. CDOT also opens emergency truck parking at Exit 133 Dotsero to keep more trucks out of the Vail area. A package on a truck held by the closure waits in the carrier network until the pass reopens, so the arrival date moves with the closure.
A placed order leaves Florida as usual, whatever the pass is doing. A practice that sees a Vail Pass closure forming, or plans to close its own doors, should order after the road or the office reopens.
Compounded preparations ship apart from exosome material. The pharmacy partner fills each individual prescription from Texas and sends it to the Vail office or to the patient. Each formulation has its own shipping options, so check yours with us first.
Cold-chain receiving at a Vail Village or Lionshead address
A suite inside the Vail Village or Lionshead pedestrian areas is reached through a loading dock, rather than its own curb. The town permits delivery companies at the Arrabelle, Four Seasons, Mountain Plaza, Sebastian and Solaris docks. In Vail Village, town-owned electric carts carry goods from the Mountain Plaza dock to storefronts.
The account should name the dock that serves the suite and the staff member who collects from it before 2 p.m. Cold nights are not the risk at a Vail address; where the box waits is. A carton left on a dock or a cart stays out of the receiving log until someone collects it. Once it reaches the suite, the signer checks for dry ice and logs the arrival time and lot. Exosome material is then kept at -20°C long term, 4°C once thawed, following the manufacturer's handling instructions. We rely on that log when a replacement or refund is requested.
Rules that apply to a Vail order
- Any business activity on premises within the Town of Vail needs a Vail business license, applied for online and renewed each year. Every license expires on 31 December, and fees are set in Town Code section 4-1-4.
- A separate Vail sales tax license is needed only when the practice sells taxable goods or services at retail, and the town charges nothing for it and sets no expiry.
- Delivery companies serving Vail Village and Lionshead need a town loading dock permit, priced annually from October and prorated by month. They also schedule Mountain Plaza deliveries through Open Dock, so a carrier without that permit cannot use the docks.
- In an emergency, Eagle County Emergency Management posts active incident information at ECEmergency.org, and ECAlert messages carry the closure and evacuation instructions for Vail addresses.
Areas near Vail on the same lane
Avon and Beaver Creek, west down the valley, are also in Eagle County. Avon registers businesses through its own town system, so a Vail license does not cover an office there. East over Vail Pass, Copper Mountain and Frisco sit in Summit County, where the Office of Emergency Management and 911 Dispatch send their own Summit County Alert notices. An office in Frisco therefore watches Summit County notices, while a Vail office watches ECAlert.
Vail questions
- Our Vail Village suite is inside the pedestrian area. How does a frozen shipper get to our door?
- Delivery vehicles are kept out of the Vail Village and Lionshead pedestrian areas with few exceptions, so a permitted carrier unloads at a town loading dock such as Mountain Plaza. Tell us which dock serves your suite and who collects from it, and we record both on the account before the first order.
- The Mountain Plaza loading dock closes at 2 p.m. What if our Vail delivery comes later in the day?
- Town loading docks run from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and any delivery outside those hours is arranged by the delivery company with the town's dock contractor. Give us your morning receiving hours and a named collector, so the account shows when someone can sign at the dock while it is open.
- CDOT has closed Vail Pass while our order is in transit. Where does the package wait?
- During a Vail Pass safety closure, CDOT stages commercial vehicles on I-70 and at the chain station near mile point 179, and it holds more trucks at Dotsero. Your shipper stays in the carrier network until the pass reopens, and its tracking number shows your signer where it is waiting. If it arrives with its dry ice sublimated, we replace it, and other delays may be refunded depending on whether the exosome material stayed temperature-controlled.
