When an order reaches a Miami Beach practice

Every Miami Beach order reaches the island by carrier over one of the causeways or bridges, and nothing is collected from or handed over at our office.

Event periods change the route. In March 2026 the city ran license plate checkpoints on the eastbound MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways on the nights of two weekends. It restricted access to South of Fifth and Flamingo Park from Thursday to Sunday all month, and barricaded both from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. over Memorial Day weekend. During Art Week in early December 2025, the city held the East Venetian Causeway drawbridge down for cars through the late afternoon.

The city counts all of Miami Beach as an evacuation zone, and the county map places the island in Zone B. Orders are not held during an evacuation order, so a practice should place them after the order is lifted and it reopens. From September to November, king tides lasting about three hours flood the lowest streets. The city names parts of West Avenue as prone to flooding, so a delivery there may slip.

Cold-chain receiving at a Miami Beach address

Curbside loading in Miami Beach is regulated. Street freight zones serve commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds, while vans and parcel carriers use permitted alley zones, and each zone posts its own hours. The city warns that a business accepting a delivery during prohibited hours can receive a notice of violation, so a practice should set receiving hours that match its zone.

Normal highs at the Miami Beach station stay near 88°F in July and August. Even so, a package left at a lobby desk or valet stand loses dry ice through the afternoon. The account therefore names a practice employee as the recipient rather than building staff.

Rules that apply to a Miami Beach order

A Miami Beach practice needs a certificate of use, issued when the business opens, moves or changes. It also needs a city business tax receipt running from 1 October to 30 September.
The city receipt application asks for the approved certificate of use, county environmental (DERM) sign-off and proof of insurance, and a Miami-Dade County receipt is required as well.

Surfside, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands and North Bay Village are separate Miami-Dade municipalities beside Miami Beach on the same Florida lane. Sunny Isles Beach lies north of Haulover Inlet. Offices in several of these towns can sit on a single account, and Miami-Dade requires a business in any of them to hold a town receipt and a county receipt.
