Vehicles are not allowed on the Aspen pedestrian mall, and between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. the city code allows commercial core deliveries only from alleys and truck loading zones. Before the first order, we record the alley door the driver should use, the person who will answer it, and the hours they staff the front desk, so the shipper is signed for rather than left outside.

Independence Pass is closed for the winter. Does that change how an order reaches Aspen?

With the pass closed, from November until CDOT reopens it in late May, deliveries reach Aspen only by Highway 82 from Glenwood Springs. If that road closes, anything already on a truck is kept by the carrier until the highway reopens, while we follow the tracking and keep your named recipient informed. Should the shipper arrive with its dry ice sublimated away, we replace it. For any other delay, a refund may apply, decided by whether the exosome material remained temperature-controlled throughout.

When an order reaches an Aspen practice

Frozen exosome material leaves Florida and travels to Aspen on the Colorado carrier lane; the panel above gives the transit window. From the November closure of Independence Pass until CDOT reopens it in late May, every delivery truck climbs Highway 82 from Glenwood Springs, so a crash or a storm closure on that one road leaves a package parked with the carrier until the road clears. We do not hold an order after it is placed, so a practice that sees a Highway 82 closure notice, or plans a closure of its own, should order after the road or the office reopens.

Freight from the Front Range can also be stopped before it reaches the valley. CDOT closes I-70 through Glenwood Canyon after major crashes and other unforeseen events, and when a closure looks set to run long it sends traffic north on CO 9, US 40 and CO 13, a detour CDOT says adds about two and a half hours. Since June 2025 CDOT no longer closes the canyon rest areas and path ahead of forecast rain. A truck caught behind a canyon closure keeps its load until I-70 reopens.

Compounded preparations move on their own track. Each one is compounded by the pharmacy partner for a single named prescription, which the partner then dispenses from Texas and ships to the clinic or to the patient. Cold-chain receiving at an Aspen address

Inside the commercial core, bounded by Durant Avenue, Monarch Street, Main Street and Spring Street, the city code bars all deliveries from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., allows them only from alleys and truck loading zones. Vehicles are barred from the pedestrian mall, so a suite on the mall usually signs at its alley door, and the account should say which door and who answers it. List the suite's street address on the account, never a post office box.

In winter, a shipper left on a snowy step or in an unheated vestibule is out of the receiving log until someone finds it. Whoever signs confirms dry ice is still in the shipper, writes down when it came and which lot it holds, and puts the vials straight into a freezer. Per the manufacturer's handling instructions, frozen stock is held at -20°C over the long run and thawed vials at 4°C.

Rules that apply to an Aspen order

Any practice doing business inside Aspen city limits needs the city's combined sales tax and business license. It runs for the calendar year, its fee is set by headcount and is not prorated, and applications and renewals moved to the city's Localgov portal on 1 June 2026.
Aspen Municipal Code section 24.20.020 sets commercial core delivery hours: none from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. only from alleys and truck loading zones. Section 24.16.210 limits a vehicle in a loading zone to half an hour or the time spent actively loading, whichever is less.
Pitkin County Emergency Management, part of the Sheriff's Office, issues the road closure and evacuation notices that decide when carriers can reach an Aspen address after a storm, wildfire or crash.

Snowmass Village, Woody Creek and Basalt share the Highway 82 approach and the Colorado transit window with Aspen, but a different local layer applies at each. Snowmass Village is a separate town that issues its own business license, renewed every year. Woody Creek is unincorporated, and Pitkin County requires no business license there beyond the state one. Basalt straddles the county line: its downtown and the Willits area sit in Eagle County, while about a third of the town, including Southside, lies in Pitkin County, so Eagle County rather than Pitkin County orders apply at most Basalt business addresses. One account can list addresses in all four places, with each lot logged to the address that signed for it.
